Which BlackVue dash cam is best for Australian conditions?
All current BlackVue models use supercapacitors instead of lithium batteries, which handle Australian summer heat far better — no battery swelling on a 45-degree day. For most Australian drivers the Elite 8 2CH is the sweet spot; go Elite 10 if you want the sharpest possible plates front and rear.
Do BlackVue dash cams have an Australian warranty?
Yes — genuine Australian-stock BlackVue cameras carry a 3-year Australian warranty (register your camera after purchase), well beyond the 1-year global norm. Grey imports from overseas sellers don't get this cover. You also have full rights under Australian Consumer Law.
Does BlackVue Cloud work straight out of the box?
Not quite — the camera needs its own internet connection for cloud features. Add the CM100GLTE 4G module with a data SIM (around $5 to $10 a month), or connect it to a Wi-Fi hotspot. Once connected you get remote live view, push alerts and GPS tracking from anywhere. Without it, the camera still records everything locally.
What is the difference between the Elite series and the DR series?
The Elite series (8, 9, 10) is the new premium range — Sony STARVIS 2 sensors, HDR, Wi-Fi 6 and the best night footage BlackVue has produced. The DR series covers proven Full HD workhorses: the DR770X II for fleets and value cloud, the Box Pro for hidden multi-camera installs, and the DR590X PLUS as the entry point.
Can a BlackVue record while my car is parked?
Yes — every model here supports parking mode with motion and impact detection. You'll need constant power: a hardwire kit (included with most models), the plug-in OBD-II cable, or the B-130A battery pack for days of protection without touching your car's battery.
What size microSD card do I need for a BlackVue?
Bigger is better for 4K: we recommend 128GB minimum for the Elite 8, and 256GB for the Elite 9, Elite 10 and DR770X (most support up to 1TB). Use a high-endurance card built for constant recording — you can add one on any camera's product page and it ships together.
