High-endurance memory card — built for non-stop recording
Help me choose the right setup
Memory card — what size? We recommend 256GB for 4K or dual-channel cameras: they record large files, and 256GB holds roughly a full day of footage before it loops — so you’re far less likely to lose an incident before you save it. 128GB is plenty for single-channel or 2K cameras.
Always fit a fresh, high-endurance card. Dash cams record in a non-stop loop, which wears out standard or old phone cards quickly and causes dropouts, “please format” errors or corrupted clips — exactly when you need the footage. A new card rated for continuous recording is the reliable choice.
Parking protection — especially EVs & Teslas. Parking mode runs around the clock. A battery pack powers it from its own cells, so it never draws on your car’s 12V system — 24/7 protection with no flat-battery risk, which matters most on EVs where you can’t safely deep-cycle the main battery.
Cloud connectivity. Add the BlackVue CM100GLTE 4G module for remote live view, impact alerts and GPS tracking from anywhere. You supply a data SIM — around $5–10/month is generally plenty.
Easy self-install. A BlackVue OBD-II power cable plugs straight into your car’s OBD port — no fuse-box wiring — and keeps the camera powered for parking mode.

Overview

The DR970X-2CH LTE Plus II is BlackVue's always-connected 4K camera: a Sony STARVIS 4K front sensor with HDR, a Full HD STARVIS rear camera, and a nano-SIM slot built straight into the body — drop in a data SIM and your car reports to your phone from anywhere, with no LTE module or Wi-Fi hotspot to juggle.

Who it's for

Drivers who leave vehicles places and want eyes on them: airport and station parkers, caravans and 4WDs at storage yards, small fleets, and parents who want live location and impact alerts from the family car. If you want BlackVue Cloud without any extra hardware, this is the camera that has it built in.

  • Built-in 4G LTE
  • Remote live view & alerts
  • Airport & storage parking
  • Small fleets

Don't need built-in LTE? The DR770X-2CH II covers both directions for less (optional LTE module). Want the newest flagship image quality instead? See the Elite 10 2CH.

Pros & cons

Pros

  • 4G LTE built in — no module to buy, no hotspot to babysit
  • 4K Ultra HD front with Sony STARVIS and HDR; Full HD STARVIS rear
  • Remote live view, real-time location and impact alerts with video via BlackVue Cloud
  • Buffered parking mode — clips start 10 seconds before the event
  • Event file protection locks up to 50 critical recordings against overwrite
  • Fast 5GHz Wi-Fi downloads when you're at the car; supports up to 1TB microSD

Worth knowing

  • Nano SIM not included — you'll need an Australian data SIM (cheap prepaid data plans work well)
  • Parking mode and LTE need constant power — hardwire cable included, or add a battery pack
  • Rear camera is Full HD, not 4K — see the Elite 10 2CH for dual 4K

A closer look

What it captures

Someone reverses into your car at the airport long-stay: the buffered parking clip includes the ten seconds before contact, and your phone gets the alert with video over 4G before you've landed. On the road, 4K keeps plates and signage readable in a way Full HD can't.

Connected out of the box

The nano-SIM reader is built into the camera. Fit an Australian data SIM, hardwire it, and the DR970X is online whenever the vehicle is — live view, vehicle location, driving history and parked impact notifications through the BlackVue app, wherever you are.

4K where it counts

The front Sony STARVIS sensor records 4K Ultra HD with HDR to hold plates against headlight glare; the rear STARVIS camera covers the other direction in Full HD. H.265 keeps file sizes manageable, and 5GHz Wi-Fi pulls a maximum-quality clip to your phone in around 30 seconds when you're at the car.

Parking protection that starts before the impact

Buffered parking mode with motion detection and time-lapse options records the lead-up, not just the aftermath, and battery discharge prevention protects the car's starter battery when hardwired.

Installation options

Hardwire cable (included — required for LTE and parking mode): constant power keeps the camera connected while parked, with voltage cut-off protecting your battery. An auto electrician makes it a tidy job.

B-130A battery (airports / storage yards / EVs): the B-130A Ultra Battery runs parking mode for days to weeks without touching the car battery — or see the ready-made bundle.

Recommended accessories

Accessory What it does Recommended?
Australian prepaid data nano SIM The LTE lifeline — BYO, from ~$10/month Recommended
B-130A Ultra Battery Days–weeks of connected parking protection, zero car-battery drain Optional
High-endurance microSD (256GB+) 4K files are big — more history Recommended

Recording time by card size

microSD size Approx. continuous recording
64GB (included) ~4–5 hours
128GB ~9 hours
256GB ~18 hours
512GB–1TB ~36–70 hours

Recording times are estimates only. Real-world figures vary with resolution, bitrate, the number of channels recording, how often parking mode is triggered and your settings. Footage loops (oldest overwritten first) unless saved or protected. Use a high-endurance microSD card rated for continuous recording.

Frequently asked questions

Does it need a subscription?

BlackVue Cloud has a free plan that covers the core remote features; your only ongoing cost is the data on your own nano SIM. Paid Cloud plans add more live-view time and history if you want them.

Which SIM card do I need?

Any Australian nano SIM with data — a cheap prepaid data plan is typical. The camera supports 4G bands B1, B3, B7 and B20, which cover Australian metro and most populated areas; if you spend a lot of time in remote regional coverage, ask us before buying.

How is this different from the DR770X-2CH II?

Two things: resolution (4K front vs Full HD) and connectivity — the LTE Plus II has the SIM reader built in, while the DR770X II needs the optional CM100GLTE module for always-on cloud.

What happens if someone hits my parked car?

Hardwired (or on a battery pack), buffered parking mode captures the ten seconds before the impact and the event itself, and the camera sends an alert with video to your phone over LTE.

What warranty applies in Australia?

A 3-year Australian warranty on genuine local stock, plus your full rights under Australian Consumer Law.
