Complete your setup
Choose a memory card and tick anything else you’d like — it all ships together with your camera.
High-endurance memory card — built for non-stop recording
A high-endurance microSD card is included with every Thinkware kit — you can record from day one. Upgrading later? Check your model’s maximum: 128GB (T700), 256GB (U3000, Q1000, Q200, Q850 — Samsung PRO Endurance or SanDisk High Endurance only) or 512GB (U3000 Pro, U1000 Plus).
Help me choose the right setup
Memory card — what size? We recommend 256GB for 4K or dual-channel cameras: they record large files, and 256GB holds roughly a full day of footage before it loops — so you’re far less likely to lose an incident before you save it. 128GB is plenty for single-channel or 2K cameras.
Always fit a fresh, high-endurance card. Dash cams record in a non-stop loop, which wears out standard or old phone cards quickly and causes dropouts, “please format” errors or corrupted clips — exactly when you need the footage. A new card rated for continuous recording is the reliable choice.
Parking protection — especially EVs & Teslas. Parking mode runs around the clock. A battery pack powers it from its own cells, so it never draws on your car’s 12V system — 24/7 protection with no flat-battery risk, which matters most on EVs where you can’t safely deep-cycle the main battery.
Cloud connectivity. Add the BlackVue CM100GLTE 4G module for remote live view, impact alerts and GPS tracking from anywhere. You supply a data SIM — around $5–10/month is generally plenty.
Easy self-install. A BlackVue OBD-II power cable plugs straight into your car’s OBD port — no fuse-box wiring — and keeps the camera powered for parking mode.

Overview

The Thinkware U1000 Plus pairs a true 4K front camera with the fullest cloud feature set in the Thinkware range — live view, geo-fencing, vehicle location and impact alerts — and it's the only model here that can grow to five channels, making it a quiet favourite with tradies and small fleets.

Who it's for

Choose the U1000 Plus if the cloud features are the point: parents who want a geo-fence alert when the car leaves the suburb, small-business owners tracking a work vehicle, or anyone who wants to check on a parked car from their phone. The five-channel expansion (via the optional multiplexer) also makes it the base for van, ute-and-trailer and light-fleet builds.

  • Tradies & vans
  • Small fleet
  • Parents & teen drivers
  • 4K + cloud value

Want radar parking and newer sensors? The U3000 is the step up. Want 2K on both ends instead of 4K front + 1080p rear? See the Q1000.

Pros & cons

Pros

  • True 4K front camera with Super Night Vision 3.0
  • Fullest cloud suite in the range: live view, geo-fencing, locate vehicle, impact alerts
  • Expandable to 5 channels with the optional multiplexer — rare at any price
  • Supports 512GB microSD for serious recording history
  • Hardwire cable and 64GB card included
  • 160° rear camera — the widest rear view in the range

Worth knowing

  • Rear camera is 1080p, not 2K
  • Cloud features need a Wi-Fi hotspot in the car (no LTE module option)
  • Radar parking is an optional add-on module, not built in
  • Previous-generation STARVIS sensor and Night Vision 3.0 (the U3000 has 4.0)

A closer look

What it captures

Your apprentice takes the ute on a Friday: geo-fencing pings your phone when it leaves the job area, and live view shows you where it is. A car park hit while you're in a meeting: impact notification, then the clip, straight to your phone via the car's hotspot.

Thinkware Cloud, properly

Where most models offer app alerts, the U1000 Plus runs the full Thinkware Cloud suite: remote live view, geo-fencing with entry/exit alerts, locate-my-vehicle and parked impact notifications with video. It needs an internet connection in the car — a portable hotspot or hotspot-capable device.

4K front, wide 1080p rear

The 8.46MP Sony STARVIS front sensor records genuine 4K at 30fps (or 2K at 60fps), while the 160° rear camera covers more lanes behind you than any other camera in the range.

Grows to five channels

Add the optional multiplexer and the U1000 Plus becomes a multi-camera system — sides of a van, a trailer, a toolbox view. It's the cheapest credible path to a 5-channel setup in Australia.

Parking protection included

The hardwire cable is in the box: motion, impact, time-lapse and energy-saving parking modes with battery-voltage cut-off. Add the optional radar module for wake-on-approach recording.

Installation options

Hardwire cable (included — unlocks parking mode): fuse-box install with voltage cut-off; an auto electrician keeps it tidy.

OBD-II harness (easy DIY alternative): the Thinkware OBD-II Power Cable enables all parking modes with no wiring.

iVolt Max battery (EVs / long parking): the iVolt Max runs parking mode for weeks without touching the car battery.

Frequently asked questions

What do the cloud features actually need?

An internet connection in the car — most owners use a small portable Wi-Fi hotspot or a hotspot-capable device left in the vehicle. With that, you get live view, geo-fencing, locate-vehicle and impact alerts on your phone anywhere.

Can it really run five cameras?

Yes — with the optional MULTMOD multiplexer you can connect additional cameras for sides, cabin or trailer views. It's a genuinely rare capability and why light fleets pick this model.

Is the 1080p rear camera a problem?

For most buyers, no — it's wide (160°) and does the evidential job. If you want 2K behind you, the Q1000 records 2K at both ends; if you want a 2K STARVIS 2 rear, that's the U3000 territory.

Does it have radar parking like the U3000?

Not built in — radar is available as an optional add-on module. The included hardwire cable covers motion, impact, time-lapse and energy-saving parking out of the box.
