Complete your setup
Choose a memory card and tick anything else you’d like — it all ships together with your camera.
High-endurance memory card — built for non-stop recording
A high-endurance microSD card is included with every Thinkware kit — you can record from day one. Upgrading later? Check your model’s maximum: 128GB (T700), 256GB (U3000, Q1000, Q200, Q850 — Samsung PRO Endurance or SanDisk High Endurance only) or 512GB (U3000 Pro, U1000 Plus).
Help me choose the right setup
Memory card — what size? We recommend 256GB for 4K or dual-channel cameras: they record large files, and 256GB holds roughly a full day of footage before it loops — so you’re far less likely to lose an incident before you save it. 128GB is plenty for single-channel or 2K cameras.
Always fit a fresh, high-endurance card. Dash cams record in a non-stop loop, which wears out standard or old phone cards quickly and causes dropouts, “please format” errors or corrupted clips — exactly when you need the footage. A new card rated for continuous recording is the reliable choice.
Parking protection — especially EVs & Teslas. Parking mode runs around the clock. A battery pack powers it from its own cells, so it never draws on your car’s 12V system — 24/7 protection with no flat-battery risk, which matters most on EVs where you can’t safely deep-cycle the main battery.
Cloud connectivity. Add the BlackVue CM100GLTE 4G module for remote live view, impact alerts and GPS tracking from anywhere. You supply a data SIM — around $5–10/month is generally plenty.
Easy self-install. A BlackVue OBD-II power cable plugs straight into your car’s OBD port — no fuse-box wiring — and keeps the camera powered for parking mode.

Overview

The Thinkware T700 has 4G LTE built straight into the camera — no module, no hotspot, no subscription. Drop in a Telstra-network SIM and your car reports to your phone from anywhere: live location, parked impact alerts with video, and an automatic SOS message if the worst happens.

Who it's for

This is the connected camera for people who leave vehicles places: caravans at storage yards, utes at airports and trailheads, work vehicles between jobs, and the family car with a new P-plater in it. Because it runs on the Telstra network, it keeps reporting in the regional areas where other connected setups give up.

  • Caravans & touring
  • Small fleets
  • Parents of new drivers
  • Always connected

Want connectivity on the flagship instead? The U3000 Pro takes the LTE Module. Don't need remote access at all? The F790 covers the recording basics for less.

Pros & cons

Pros

  • 4G LTE built in — no module to buy, no hotspot to babysit
  • No Thinkware subscription: your only cost is a cheap data SIM
  • Live vehicle location, driving history and parked impact alerts with video
  • SOS emergency message sends a video link and location to your chosen contact
  • Telstra network = the best regional coverage story in Australia
  • Hardwire cable and 64GB card included

Worth knowing

  • Telstra network only — Optus and Vodafone SIMs won't work; SIM not included
  • 1080p front and rear — evidence-grade, not 4K showpiece footage
  • microSD tops out at 128GB
  • LTE and parking features require the camera to be hardwired

A closer look

What it captures

Your caravan sits in a storage yard three suburbs away: someone clips it turning, and your phone gets the alert and the video before they've left the row. Your daughter's first solo road trip: the SOS feature means a serious impact automatically messages you her location and footage link.

Connected out of the box

Everything the LTE modules add to flagship cameras is already inside the T700. Fit a Telstra-network nano SIM with SMS and data (a $10–15/month prepaid plan is typical), hardwire it, and the camera is online whenever the vehicle is — no third-party cloud fees, ever.

Alerts that actually reach you

Parked impact notifications arrive with video backup, so you know instantly whether it was a trolley or a T-bone. Live location, last-parked image, battery voltage and driving history are all in the Connected app.

SOS for the people you care about

A hard impact triggers an automatic emergency message — location and a video link — to your nominated contact. For solo drivers, new drivers and remote-area travellers, this is the feature that sells the T700.

Full HD, both directions

Front and rear 1080p with wide 140°/160° coverage, WDR processing and Australian safety-camera alerts through the built-in GPS.

Installation options

Hardwire cable (included — required for LTE and parking mode): the T700 needs constant power to stay connected while parked; the voltage cut-off protects your battery. An auto electrician makes it a tidy job.

OBD-II harness (easy DIY alternative): the Thinkware OBD-II Power Cable delivers the same constant power from the OBD port with no wiring.

iVolt Max battery (storage yards / long stints): the iVolt Max keeps the T700 online and protected for weeks without touching the vehicle battery.

Recording time by card size

microSD size Approx. continuous recording
64GB (included) ~8 hours
128GB ~16 hours

Recording times are estimates only. Real-world figures vary with resolution, bitrate, the number of channels recording, how often parking mode is triggered and your settings. Footage loops (oldest overwritten first) unless saved or protected. Use a high-endurance microSD card rated for continuous recording.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Thinkware T700 need a subscription?

No Thinkware subscription at all — you only pay for your own SIM's data plan. A basic Telstra-network prepaid plan with SMS and data is all it needs.

Which SIM cards work in Australia?

Telstra network only — a Telstra or Telstra-wholesale (Boost, etc.) nano SIM with SMS and data. Optus and Vodafone SIMs are not compatible, and it isn't a 5G device.

What happens if someone hits my parked car?

Hardwired (or on a battery), the T700 records the impact and sends a notification with video backup to your phone over 4G — plus you can check live location and the last-parked image any time.

Is 1080p enough?

For evidence, usually yes — plates at normal distances are readable, and the T700's value is the connectivity. If you want maximum image quality and remote access, the U3000 Pro with LTE Module is the premium path.

Why is this good for caravans and 4WD tourers?

Telstra's regional coverage means the T700 keeps reporting where other connected cameras drop out — storage yards, country towns, highway rest stops. Pair it with an iVolt battery and it minds the rig for weeks.
