Thinkware OBD-II Plug and Play Power Cable
The Thinkware OBD-II Power Cable unlocks full parking mode in about two minutes — it plugs straight into your car's OBD-II port and powers your Thinkware dash cam exactly as if it were hardwired, with no fuse-box wiring and no installer.
- 2-minute DIY install
- Full parking mode
- EV & hybrid friendly
- No hardwiring
What it does
- Provides constant, switched power from the OBD-II port so every Thinkware parking surveillance mode — motion, impact, time-lapse, energy saving — works exactly as with a hardwire install.
- Completely reversible: unplug it and the car is back to stock, which makes it ideal for lease cars, company vehicles and novated leases.
- Works in petrol, diesel, hybrid, stop-start and electric vehicles with an OBD-II port.
Compatibility & installation
Compatible with all Thinkware dash cams except the F790, which uses its own dedicated harness. Your car needs an accessible OBD-II port (nearly all vehicles since the mid-2000s have one, usually under the dash). If an insurer or telematics dongle already lives in your OBD port, you'll need to choose one or the other — or hardwire instead.

Is this really as good as hardwiring?
For parking mode, yes — the camera receives the same constant power and all surveillance modes work identically. Hardwiring is tidier long-term and frees the OBD port; this is faster, tool-free and reversible.
Which dash cams does it work with?
Every current Thinkware dash cam except the F790 — the F790 uses its own dedicated hardwire harness (included with F790 kits).
Will it drain my car battery?
The dash cam's own voltage protection still applies, shutting recording down before the battery gets low — same protection as a hardwired install.
Will it work in my EV or hybrid?
Yes — EVs, hybrids and stop-start vehicles with an OBD-II port are supported. If you're unsure where your port is, send us your make and model.
