Overview
The VIOFO CPL-200 is the genuine front-camera circular polarising filter for VIOFO's A229 and A329 dash cams, plus the A139, T130 and WM1. It cuts glare off the windscreen, dashboard and road, so daytime footage records clearer, with better contrast and richer colour.
Who it's for
Buy this if you drive with a VIOFO A229 Plus. It doesn't come with a front CPL filter, and in bright Australian sun that shows up as your dashboard reflected in the windscreen and footage that looks washed out. The CPL-200 is the filter VIOFO makes for that lens.
Already own an A329S, A229 Pro or A229 Ultra? A CPL-200 comes in the box with those cameras, so you only need this one as a replacement if yours has been lost or scratched.

A closer look
Why dash cam footage gets washed out
Sunlight hitting your dashboard bounces onto the inside of the windscreen, and the camera records that reflection over the road ahead. Light-coloured dashboards and steeply raked windscreens make it worse, and glare off wet roads and the bonnet does the same thing. A circular polarising filter blocks most of that reflected light while letting the light from the road through, so footage looks deeper, sharper and less washed out.
Pre-aligned, so there's nothing to fiddle with
A polariser only works properly at the right angle. VIOFO sets that angle at the factory, so you simply match the white line on the filter to the white mark on the camera's lens. No spinning or guessing.
Protects the lens as well
The coated glass resists scratches and dust and wipes clean with a microfibre cloth, and it keeps fingers and grime off the camera's own lens.

Installation
Wipe the front camera lens clean, line up the white mark on the filter with the white mark on the lens, and fit it in place. No tools needed. Then check the live view in the VIOFO app: the dashboard reflection should be noticeably reduced. The fitting video above shows each step.

Frequently asked questions
I have an A229 Pro, A229 Ultra or A329S. Do I need this?
Probably not. Those cameras come with a CPL-200 in the box, so check yours before ordering. This is for replacing one that's been lost or damaged.
Will it fit my T330 or T340?
No. The T330 and T340 use a different, magnetic front filter that's included with the camera.
Does a CPL help at night?
The gains are in daytime glare. A polariser lets in slightly less light, so it won't improve night footage. VIOFO says it can be used day and night, so you can leave it fitted.
Do I need to rotate it to get it working?
No. It's pre-calibrated at the factory. Line up the white marks and it's set.
How do I clean it?
Wipe it gently with a microfibre cloth. Skip paper towel and harsh cleaners, as they can scratch the coating. A camera lens cleaning solution is fine if needed.
