BlackVue OBD-II Power Cable (BOC-300)
Overview
The BlackVue OBD-II Power Cable (BOC-300) unlocks parking mode in minutes by plugging straight into your car's OBD-II port — no fusebox tapping, no hardwiring and built-in battery protection so you can leave it connected with confidence.
Who it's for
If you want continuous parking-mode recording but don't want the cost or hassle of professional hardwiring, the OBD-II cable is the easiest way there. It's perfect for confident DIYers and anyone whose car has an accessible OBD-II port under the dash.
- Plug-and-play parking mode
- No hardwiring needed
- Battery cut-off built in
- Easy DIY install
Pros & cons
Pros
- Enables parking mode without tapping the fusebox or hardwiring
- Built-in low-voltage cut-off protects your car battery
- Genuine BlackVue part — clean, reliable power delivery
- 3-metre lead routes neatly around the windscreen and trim
- Much cheaper than a professional hardwire install
Worth knowing
- Your car needs an accessible OBD-II port (most do; some EVs and hybrids don't)
- Draws from the main battery, so the cut-off voltage matters for long stays
- Front-of-cabin OBD ports may need tidy cable routing
- For very long unattended periods, a dedicated battery pack is better
A closer look
Parking mode, the easy way
Hardwiring a dash cam means finding the right fuse, adding an earth and routing cables behind the trim. The BOC-300 skips all of that — it plugs into the standardised OBD-II diagnostic port that's in nearly every modern car, usually just under the steering wheel. You get switched-and-constant power for parking mode in one connector.
Protects your battery automatically
Because parking mode runs while the engine is off, the BOC-300 includes low-voltage cut-off: if your battery drops to a set level, the cable stops drawing power so your car will still start in the morning. It's the safety net that makes leave-it-connected parking mode practical.
Compatibility
The BOC-300 is designed for the BlackVue X-series — DR590X, DR750X, DR770X, DR900X and DR970X. It's not suitable for vehicles without an accessible OBD-II port (some EVs and hybrids). A longer BOC-400 variant also exists; contact us if you'd prefer the longer lead and we'll sort it.
Installation
Plug the OBD connector into your car's diagnostic port (usually under the steering column), route the 3-metre lead up the A-pillar to your dash cam and connect. No tools, no fuse-tapping. Set your camera's cut-off voltage in the BlackVue app and you're protected.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need an auto electrician to fit this?
No — that's the appeal. It plugs straight into your OBD-II port, so most people fit it themselves in a few minutes.
Will it drain my car battery?
It has a built-in low-voltage cut-off that stops drawing power before your battery gets too low, so your car will still start. You can adjust the cut-off level in the BlackVue app.
Where is the OBD-II port?
In most cars it's under the dashboard near the steering column. If you can't find yours, your owner's manual will show its location.
Is this better than hardwiring?
It's faster and cheaper to fit. Hardwiring is tidier and frees the OBD port; a dedicated battery pack like the B-130A is best for very long unattended stays.
